How to read an EXW price without overpaying
Why the machine price is only the start of the budget and the five cost lines to add before payback.
An EXW price covers handover at the factory only. It excludes loading, export clearance, freight, insurance, import duties and commissioning.
As a practical rule, for a mid-complexity machine the landed cost before launch is usually 28–42% above EXW. The range depends on dimensions, route and installation requirements.
Before comparing offers, bring them to the same Incoterm. If one supplier quotes EXW and another DDP, the numeric gap does not reflect an equipment price gap.
